9-11 type attack in Sri Lanka

On the 20th night of February 2009 the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam: a terrorist organization in Sri Lanka) crashed one of its planes to the Inland Revenue Department causing a massive fireball explosion. The first thing that comes to anyone's mind after hereing this would definitely be the 9-11 attacks in US. The LTTE used a Zlin-143 light aircrafts for this suicide mission. The engine of the tiger plane was later removed from the 13th floore.

When the military learned about the incoming LTTE air crafts it activated its air defence system. For about one hour or so the whole of Colombo was in a panic and excitement as fireing at the night sky to shoot down the plans could be seen and heard.

The suicide mission of the second plane would have been to cause maximum damage to the Sri Lankan Air Force base in Katunayaka. This plane was shot down in Katunayaka by Anti air gunfire.

Some say that Prabakaran (The LTTE leader) had Tax problems with the Srilankan government and wanted his tax file destroyed. That is the reason he sent one of his plans to the Inland Revenue...
